Angeles Times via Getty Images) The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in a dire situation. After they fired Darvin Ham following their playoff exit, there arose more than the need for just a new head coach. For years, the team has been built around LeBron James. But with the 39-year-old getting closer to retirement every season, there’s a need for fresh faces to build the team around, for star players who could help revive the team. And Lakers legend Magic Johnson seems to share this sentiment as well. The five-time NBA champion emphasized that the team needs not only a new, accomplished, and capable coach but also a stronger and more effective roster to change its fortunes. Furthermore, as Jeanie Buss keeps up the hunt for the perfect fit, Johnson stated his one condition for the Lakers coach in an interview at the premiere of Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Playing on the name of the action-comedy film, the interviewer asked Magic Johnson, “Ride or die? Los Angeles Lakers.” The 64-year-old replied, “Ride or die. I’m a Los Angeles Laker through and through forever. We just got to make some changes, get better. We hopefully get this coach in here, whoever they going to decide to coach the Lakers. But also, we got to improve the roster. If we can do that, we’ll be good.” As important as hiring the perfect coach for the Lakers would be, it’s just as crucial to have a team they can mold into a championship-winning unit. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad Expressing precisely this and the fact that the competition in the Western Conference is as tough as it gets, Johnson added, “As a matter of fact, I’m leaning more toward improving the roster. It doesn’t matter who the coach is. If the roster doesn’t get better, we can bring in the greatest coach in all the world, but we can’t win. So we have to improve the roster because the West is so deep.” Ever since LeBron James’ arrival in the City of Angels in 2018, the Lakers have had three different coaches. The search for a fourth one is ongoing, but because not many names in the coaching market stand out, it is taking longer than most fans would have expected. And that’s not the only issue. At present, one of the hurdles that the Lakers need to break off is the Denver Nuggets, who the Lakers have lost to in the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. Magic further detailed the situation in the Western Conference while praising the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves. He said, “You think about Dallas, you think about Minnesota. But then there’s Denver. We can’t beat Denver right now. Oklahoma City gonna be around for a long time… The West is really competitive, it’s really deep. So we gotta get better.” The thing is, Magic Johnson isn’t the only one who feels this way. In an appearance on the Stephen A. Smith Show, Snoop Dogg and Smith discussed the state of the Lakers right now. The analyst couldn’t help but say, “I don’t what [the Lakers] can do [with the current lineup].” And Lakers superfan Snoop Dogg couldn’t help but agree, albeit quite harshly. He said, “I do. You can clear that locker room out.” The Grammy-nominated artist asserted the importance of bringing fresh, young talent to the roster to revitalize the 2020 champions. However, there are two sides to a coin. Mandatory Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports Giving his take on the Lakers’ head coach situation for the past few years, Snoop Dogg stated, “I don’t think we had the right coach or right anything when it came to [fitting together as a unit].” He highlighted the importance of a good coach, just as Magic Johnson did: “One thing about great coaching is that you can have all the talent in the world, but if you don’t know how to coach it, then you’re just wasting time.” The Lakers have started making strides in one of those aspects. As per The Athletic, the Lakers have indeed set their sights on certain players who could make them contenders again. Donovan Mitchell leads the list, followed by Darius Garland and Trae Young. However, the head coach position is still up in the air. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad After the Los Angeles Lakers’ exit from the NBA Playoffs, the franchise was quick to fire Darvin Ham. Now, in the hunt for a replacement, one name that has surfaced in the rumor mill is former NBA player JJ Redick. If the Lakers were to hire him, it would mark Redick’s debut coaching year in the NBA (he coaches his nine-year-old son’s basketball team right now). Moreover, he’s also good friends with the current team leader in LA, LeBron James. They’re also co-hosts of the Mind the Game podcast. After the second consecutive defeat for LeBron James & Co. against the Denver Nuggets, the mood among the Lakers fanbase isn’t great. To rebuild enthusiasm and hope again, the Lakers need to find a new synergy to dominate. The suggestions NBA experts provided are promising, but nothing has been confirmed yet. As Magic stated, the West is extremely competitive with teams like the Mavs, the Wolves, Denver, and OKC, which are set to dominate in the foreseeable future. Considering this, it’s imperative that the Lakers get the choice of their new head coach right. Time is ticking for everyone involved with the franchise. Dodgers star Shohei Ohtanis interpreter pleads guilty to transferring 17m from players bank account

Ippei Mizuhara, 39, of Newport Beach, California, is accused of using the funds to pay off his own illegal gambling debts. The news, which broke in March, has shocked baseball fans across the world, from the US to Ohtani’s native Japan. Mr Mizuhara will plead guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of subscribing to a false tax return, the US Justice Department announced on Wednesday. The plea will be entered in the coming weeks ahead of his arraignment on 14 May. The bank fraud charge carries a maximum of 30 years in federal prison, and the false tax return charge carries a sentence of up to three years in federal prison. The plea agreement says Mizuhara will be required to pay Mr Ohtani restitution that could total nearly $17m, as well as more than $1m to the IRS. Those amounts could change before sentencing. “The extent of this defendant’s deception and theft is massive,” United States Attorney Martin Estrada said in a statement. “He took advantage of his position of trust to take advantage of Mr Ohtani and fuel a dangerous gambling habit.” According to prosecutors, Mizuhara exploited his personal and professional relationship with Mr Ohtani to plunder millions from the two-way player’s account for years. At times, he even allegedly impersonated the player himself when dealing with bankers. Prosecutors say that he had begun placing bets with an illegal bookmaker in September 2021, and quickly got in over his head. “Shortly thereafter, Mizuhara began to lose bets and quickly became indebted to the bookmaker. Unable to pay his gambling debts, Mizuhara orchestrated a scheme to deceive and cheat the bank to fraudulently obtain money from the account,” the DOJ said. “From no later than November 2021 to March 2024, Mizuhara used Ohtani’s password to successfully sign into the bank account and then changed the account’s security protocols without Ohtani’s knowledge or permission. “In total, Mizuhara called the bank and impersonated Ohtani on approximately 24 occasions.” During this time, Mizuhara regularly logged into Mr Ohtani’s bank account and initiated wire transfers from the account to the bookmaker and his associates as payments for gambling debts. On June 20, 2023, Mizuhara accessed the account without the player’s permission and transferred $500,000 to one of the bookmaker’s associates. From January 2024 to March 2024, Mr Mizuhara purchased approximately $325,000 worth of baseball cards from online resellers such as eBay from Mr Ohtani’s bank account with the intent to resell them later and for his own benefit. When Mr Ohtani’s sports agent and financial advisors asked Mr Mizuhara for access to the bank account, Mizuhara lied and said his boss did not want them to access the account because it was private. The long-time interpreter’s winning bets totalled over $142m, which he deposited in his own bank account and not Mr Ohtani’s. But his losing bets were around $183m, a net loss of nearly $41m. In total Mr Mizuhara fraudulently obtained more than $16,975,010 from Mr Ohtani, according to the DOJ. He did not wager on baseball, prosecutors said. Major League Baseball (MLB) rules prohibit players and team employees from wagering on baseball, even legally. MLB also bans betting on other sports with illegal or offshore bookmakers. Mr Mizuhara was fired by the Dodgers, and the MLB opened an investigation into the situation after The Los Angeles Times and ESPN broke the news of the prosecution in late March. There was no evidence that Mr Ohtani was involved in or aware of Mr Mizuhara’s gambling, and the player is cooperating with investigators, authorities said. Since the allegations emerged, Mr Mizuhara has been free on an unsecured $25,000 bond, colloquially known as a signature bond. This means he did not have to put up any cash or collateral to be freed. If he violates the bond conditions — which include a requirement to undergo gambling addiction treatment — he will be required to pay $25,000. Mr Ohtani has played in the United States since 2018, first for the Los Angeles Angels before signing a record-breaking contract with the Dodgers in December. The contract is worth $700m and stretches over 10 years. Since the case against his ex-interpreter was announced, the Dodgers star has focussed on his game. Just hours after his Mr Mizuhara first appeared in court in April, he hit his 175th home run as an MLB player, tying Hideki Matsui for the most by a Japan-born player, during the Dodgers’ 8-7 loss to the San Diego Padres in 11 innings. Winter gems to continue McEvoys winning comeback

We’re sorry, this feature is currently unavailable. We’re working to restore it. Please try again later. Add articles to your saved list and come back to them any time. The focus for most jockeys in winter is Queensland, where the better horses shoot for riches, but champion hoop Kerrin McEvoy has stayed in Sydney with an eye to the spring.Best porn XXX. McEvoy is a couple of weeks into a comeback after a fall on Golden Slipper day in which he fractured a wing of a vertebra in his neck. Kerrin McEvoy believes Franz Josef has the potential to continue to rise through the grades.Credit: Getty Images “I just want to build momentum into the spring,” McEvoy said. “Just getting back riding winners is the main thing, but you can find the right horses at this time of year as well.” McEvoy notched a win with Franz Josef and an unlucky second on Left Field on his return at Rosehill two weeks ago. Both are likely types out to build their benchmark ratings for later in the year. Their time to challenge in better races will not be in June, but it’s the time when the foundations of the spring can be laid. “They are not really winter surprises because Gerald Ryan [Franz Josef] and Brad Widdup [Left Field] have been patient with them,” McEvoy said. “You can see they are going to reap the rewards with them, but winning in the winter is important to get their benchmarks up. “It is a great time of year for Franz Josef and Left Field given where they are at in their careers, and they are nice horses to be riding on their way through the grades.” Ryan has had to wait for three-year-old Franz Josef to find his feet. He is building a good record with three wins from four starts, the most impressive of which was last time out at Rosehill. Ryan and Sterling Alexiou decided to stick to home ground on Saturday rather than head to Eagle Farm for the Gunsynd Classic. “We need to get him through his grades because he is the type of horse that is going to be a stakes horse next time in,” Ryan said. “There is no rush with him because the owner said to go where he can win, and that’s what we have done. “We have had a bit of experience with these later-developing horses before, and the best thing is to keep them comfortable and winning. “You need to get the rating to a point where you can run in the races you want to later in the year. We have an eye on that, and we could sneak him up north for a Winx Guineas at the Sunshine Coast.” Franz Josef showed a change of gear on a very heavy track in his last win that suggested to McEvoy he still has a lot to give. “He is a bold galloper that will make the pace if nothing else is doing it,” McEvoy said. “If you get the fractions right on him, he will give you a sprint. “You are never quite sure if it’s going to be there on very deep ground like last time, but he had it when we needed it, which is a good sign.” Left Field might not have won like Franz Josef at Rosehill but McEvoy is looking forward to being on her again after she chased home Cigar Flick two weeks ago. “She was on the worst part of the track back to the inside, but she is a very nice filly,” McEvoy said. “She doesn’t make her own luck like the other fellow, but she feels like a really nice filly. “I think the better ground is going to help her.” Newcastle trainer Kris Lees will take advantage of McEvoy’s services in the Winter Cup(2400m) on Point King. Lees has removed the cross-over nose band on Point King as he steps out in listed company. “He just wanted to throw his head about last time and not relax,” Lees said. “We want him to be comfortable because his European form is very good and the trip should suit him. “He does the right things at home, but we want to see it on race day.” Point King is a $17 chance in the Winter Cup but was a winner of the Vinnie Roe Stakes back in Ireland as a three-year-old and also placed in a group 3 race before owner Lloyd Williams brought him out to Australia. Point King didn’t help himself by over-racing on his Australian debut when he finished midfield in benchmark company, but he drops to the limit weight of 53kg for the Winter Cup. “He is one to watch. His form over in Europe was pretty good and the reports are that the first run has brought him on a fair bit,” McEvoy said. “He is an interesting ride.” Sports news, results and expert commentary. Rick Hendrick Forced to Severe Ties With Chase Elliotts Iconic Sponsor After Worrying Cash Crunch

A report by USA Today suggests that “pressure from current market conditions” led to these recent developments. But even more heartbreaking announcements arrived on July 1st, this time to break hearts within NASCAR’s dedicated ‘Orange Zone,’ involving Rick Hendrick, Chase Elliott, and the Hooters sponsorship deal. How Should NASCAR Penalize Corey Lajoie? A Monetary Fine Points Deduction A Race Suspension Penalize Busch. He Was at Fault Kelly Crandall broke the news to the world with a set of tweets only a few hours ago, “There were rumblings earlier this season that Hooters was still going to be on Chase Elliott’s car, but the company was having some business struggles…” In a separate tweet posted only minutes earlier, Crandall shared an official statement from Hendrick Motorsports which declared the end to a partnership that dates back to 2017. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad As Crandall wrote on behalf of Rick Hendrick’s race team, “Hooters has been a valued partner of Hendrick Motorsports since 2017, contributing to our shared successes both on and off the track. In recent months, however, Hooters has not been able to meet its business obligations to our organization. Due to these unfortunate and unexpected circumstances, and despite extensive efforts on both sides to identify a workable solution, it became necessary for Hendrick Motorsports to end the relationship. It has been a privilege having Hooters as a part of our team and we wish them the best.“ Statement fro Hendrick Motorsports, “Hooters has been a valued partner of Hendrick Motorsports since 2017, contributing to our shared successes both on and off the track. Following the Great Recession of 2008, NASCAR has lost more than 75% of its 150+ Fortune 500 sponsors, as per the Sports Business Journal. For those unfamiliar, the Fortune 500 “in its 70th year” ranks 500 companies based on the highest revenue generated within a financial year. Hooters has not been a Fortune 500 company since its inception in Clearwater, FL, more than 40 years ago, but the brand’s impact has been far and varying in NASCAR. From sponsoring Alan Kulwicki’s 1992 championship-winning #7 throughout the year right up to the championship race (ironically titled the Hooters 500), to witnessing Chase Elliott break a 40+ winless race streak at Texas earlier this year in the #9 Hooters car, the Hooters owl has been part of plenty stock car memories. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad Many notable Cup drivers, such as Loy Allen Jr, Rick Mast & Brett Bodine, drove under the Hooters banner until 2003 when the company decided to take a temporary 4-year hiatus from NASCAR. They later returned in 2007, sponsoring a Truck Series team with Jason White, Derrick Cope & Brad Keselowski manning those folds. In 2013, Hooters sponsored Nelson Piquet Jr’s #30 Nationwide Series car for Turner Scott Motorsports. As of July 1st, 2024, NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver waved that banner. But with this news making its way to the wider audiences straight from Rick Hendrick’s, the masses are in a frenzy after having to lose another familiar connection in the top 3 National Touring Series. Elliott’s #9 Camaro ZL1 was to race in a Hooters paint scheme thrice this season. It has already done so twice in Texas and Atlanta earlier. But considering the latest developments, it seems the Owl and its orange won’t be making its way to the Hendrick camp at Richmond this fall. xMikexEgertonx 70888415 Do you agree with Jesse Marsch’s stance on US Soccer, or is Bielsa spot on? The US-hosted Copa America organizers are taking heat left, right, and center. Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa blamed the organizers after things went off-kilter when Colombia fans fought against Uruguay players after the semi-final. Thereafter, Bielsa continued his rant and went off on the organizers for poor pitch conditions in major stadiums. While Canada boss Jesse Marsch too was critical of the tournament and its organizing, he disagrees with two points Bielsa raised in his unhinged rant. Firstly, Uruguay’s Darwin Nunez and others did not get a CONMEBOL sanction for physically confronting Colombia fans. During a press conference, Jesse Marsch said the CONMEBOL would have immediately sanctioned Canada players if they fought against fans. Secondly, Marsch believes the pitch conditions were just fine in the tournament. After Canada’s semi-final loss against Argentina, a reporter specifically pointed out that the pitch was off-kilter and asked Marsch’s take on the same. “I thought the pitch was ok. It’s a little soft. But I thought it played fine. It was ok,” said Marsch, via TJ Sports USA. via Reuters Soccer Football – Premier League – Leeds United v Fulham – Elland Road, Leeds, Britain – October 23, 2022 Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch reacts REUTERS/Craig Brough EDITORIAL USE ONLY. Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa has no more criticism to throw at the Copa organizers forcing the guests to play in the pitch conditions he deemed terrible. “They’ve said that the pitches are in perfect condition and all the lies they have said here, doing a press conference to say that the pitches are perfect and you see how the grass patches won’t work. And they said the training facilities are perfect, but Bolivia couldn’t train and I have pictures to prove that it’s all lies, this is a plague of liars,” said Marcelo Bielsa. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad The Canadian and the Uruguayan coach’s drastically different takes on pitch conditions prove there are always two sides to a coin. However, Argentina ace Lionel Messi seems to disagree with Marsch. He too had a problem with the pitch. Jesse Marsch said the pitch was just fine referring to the Argentina-Canada game in the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. But this is what Leo Messi had to say about the same game. “This was a very difficult match. Damn, it was so hot and the pitch was very difficult to play on,” said Messi. As a reporter pointed out while speaking to Marsch, the pitch looked damp during the Argentina-Canada game. via Reuters Soccer Football – Copa America 2024 – Quarter Final – Argentina v Ecuador – NRG Stadium, Houston, Texas, United States – July 4, 2024 Argentina’s Lionel Messi reacts REUTERS/Agustin Marcarian The MetLife Stadium that hosted Argentina’s semi-final is quite infamous for its surface. Fans must surely know that this was the same stadium where New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles, owing to terrible pitch conditions. Courtesy of soccer players’ concerns, many US stadiums started using grass instead of artificial turfs. However, as Bielsa pointed out, many of them had grass planted just three days before a match! The MetLife Stadium notably hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. If a player like Messi is unhappy with its surface, it surely is a wake-up call for the US soccer authorities to fix things before they dream big. Euro 2024 picking out the team of the tournament

Spain dominate our XI but Portugal, Georgia, Slovenia, Germany and Netherlands players also made it By Sam Hammond for WhoScored After Spain’s triumph over England in the Euro 2024 final, we’ve selected a team of the tournament. To be considered for selection, players must have made at least four appearances.Best porn XXX. Mamardashvili takes his place between the sticks in our XI after an exceptional campaign with Georgia. The 23-year-old made 29 saves at the tournament – considerably more than any other keeper (Bart Verbruggen was second with 18). The Valencia keeper was particularly good in the 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic. Kimmich lines up at right-back following five solid performances for the hosts. His distribution was excellent – he completed 92.6% of his passes, set up two goals and managed an impressive 15 key passes. The 29-year-old also made seven tackles and six interceptions before Germany exited the tournament at the quarter-finals. Bijol earns a place after very strong showings against England, Portugal, Denmark and Serbia. The 25-year-old Udinese defender helped Slovenia to impressive clean sheets against England and Portugal. He made 11 tackles, six interceptions and a whopping 38 clearances. Pepe, the oldest player in Euros history, joins Bijol at the heart of our defence. The 41-year-old showed no signs of his age with four hugely impressive performances for Portugal, three of which resulted in clean sheets. Portugal’s problem at the tournament was their inability to score – they had a higher share of possession than any other team but were blunt in attack. Mendes completes our back four, having played a part in those aforementioned clean sheets for Portugal. The PSG defender also managed 12 tackles, five interceptions, nine clearances and seven successful dribbles. The name on everyone’s lips following Euro 2024 is the superstar teenager Lamine Yamal, who starred throughout for Spain. The Barcelona winger provided more assists than any other player at the tournament (four), while also finding the net with a wonderfully curled effort in the semi-final victory over France – which made him the youngest scorer in Euros history. Rodri won the player of the tournament award but we’ve gone for Fabián Ruiz in our XI. He has played for Spain 29 times and is yet to be on the losing side. The PSG midfielder scored a brilliant solo goal in Spain’s first game against Croatia and he never looked back, going on to finish the tournament with two goals and two assists. He was an all rounder, completing more than 90% of his attempted passes, taking 17 shots on goal, and making 10 key passes and 12 successful dribbles. Sign up to Football Daily Kick off your evenings with the Guardian’s take on the world of football after newsletter promotion Ruiz is joined in midfield by his teammate Dani Olmo, whose impact on the tournament was far greater than expected for a player who started only three of Spain’s seven matches. He began the tournament as an understudy to Pedri, whose injury in the win against Germany gave him a big opportunity. He grasped it. The RB Leipzig attacker scored in the knockout stage wins over Georgia, Germany and France, while also chipping in with two assists. No player was involved in more goals than Olmo. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan (France) Defenders Kyle Walker (England, pictured) Manuel Akanji (Switzerland) William Saliba (France) Marc Cucurella (Spain) Midfielders Rodri (Spain) Dani Olmo (Spain) Fabián Ruiz (Spain) Forwards Lamine Yamal (Spain) Jamal Musiala (Germany) Nico Williams (Spain) ———— Winners Spain contribute six members of Uefa’s team of the European Championship – including the entire three-man midfield. Rodri was named as the player of the tournament following Sunday’s final. Meanwhile France, the team Spain beat in the semi-finals, have two representatives. Kyle Walker is the only player selected from beaten finalists England, repeating his inclusion from Euro 2020, while Germany and Switzerland – who both exited at the quarter-final stage – also have one apiece in the XI. Guardian sport Like Olmo, Jamal Musiala scored three goals and won a share of the Golden Boot. The 21-year-old was a bright spark for the hosts, scoring in the wins over Scotland and Hungary in the group stage, as well as the 2-0 victory over Denmark in the round of 16. Like Lamine Yamal on the opposite side of the Spain attack, Williams dazzled defences with his tricky and ferocious wing play. The 22-year-old scored and assisted in the round of 16 win over Georgia, before netting the most important goal of his career to give Spain the lead in Sunday’s final against England. He was named the player of the match in the final, following in the footsteps of Leonardo Bonucci (2020), Pepe (2016), Andrés Iniesta (2012), Fernando Torres (2008), Theodoros Zagorakis (2004), Francesco Totti (2000) and Karel Poborsky (1996). Rounding off our XI is akpo, another player who won a share of the Golden Boot with three goals. The Liverpool forward scored against Poland and Austria in the group stage, before finding the net – and providing an assist – in the last-16 victory over Romania. In all, Gakpo managed a total of 13 shots on goal, 12 key passes and nine successful dribbles. This is an article by WhoScored

U.S. Soccer is enjoying a golden generation of talent as the United States develop talent both domestically and internationally at a scale and level not seen before in USMNT history. The U.S. youth international has been earmarked for a future move to European giants Man City, but will have to wait a number of years for that switch to come to fruition. While first-team football for a Champions League club is still many years down the road, Sullivan and his family have looked to give him the best opportunity to develop and flourish into the player many believe he can be. The Sporting News details where Cavan Sullivan came from, what clubs were involved in his future European transfer, and how high the bar is for one of the biggest prospects the U.S. has ever seen. MORE: Explaining the homophobic chant that has Mexico’s soccer federation in hot water with FIFA Sullivan hails from northern Philadelphia, PA, moving to Norristown at a young age. That proximity allowed him to join the Philadelphia Union academy in 2020, which trains in nearby Wayne, PA, along with his older brother Quinn, a 20-year-old American youth international who graduated from the Union academy and now plays for the club’s first team. Sullivan has earned eye-popping plaudits from coaches and scouts all over the globe. Back in April of 2023, when Sullivan was just 13, Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtain said that the youngster “has the ability and talent to become, I’ll just say, a household name.” But others would go even further. Former U.S. international and current ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman said Man City scouts told him they believe Sullivan is “the best 14-year-old in the world” before adding his own commentary that “they’re not wrong.” Sullivan now plays for the USA U15 side, winning the Golden Ball award for best player at the CONCACAF U-15 Championship in 2023, which the U.S. won by beating Mexico 4-2 in the final. He scored three goals in the tournament, all in the group stage, before helping the U.S. dominate possession through the knockout stages. Philadelphia soccer is in his family’s blood. Sullivan’s parents Brendan and Heike both played soccer collegiately at the University of Pennsylvania, and his grandfather Larry played at Temple before turning to coaching at Villanova for 16 years, during which time he coached current Union boss Jim Curtin. MORE: Sullivan sets U.S. pro sports record with MLS debut Sullivan became the youngest player in MLS history at 14 years, 296 days old after making his Union debut in the 85th minute of the club’s July 17 match against the New England Revolution at home. Freddy Adu previously held the record from when he made his debut for D.C. United at 14 years, 306 days old in 2004. MORE: How Cavan Sullivan surpassed Freddy Adu benchmark According to multiple reports — from Fabrizio Romano, Tom Bogert of The Athletic and Philipp Kessler of The Daily Mail among others — Cavan Sullivan has signed with Premier League giants Manchester City over the litany of other clubs that made an approach. However, that move will reportedly not materialize for some time. The list of clubs that made an approach is extensive and impressive. Sullivan has been linked with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for a while, due to a number of factors, but it goes beyond just BVB.  Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid were amongst the clubs who made approaches, according to Romano and Kessler. 🔵🇺🇸 Manchester City are preparing all formal documents to sign deal for American wonderkid Cavan Sullivan to join the club in the future years.Born in 2009, Cavan made his debut for Philadelphia Union II team with an assist. It’s all done, matter of time to sign. 🔐 https://t.co/kD0NRKO0qH It’s notable that Sullivan will sign for a Premier League club for one particular reason: Sullivan holds a German passport, which due to European child labor laws, would allow him to play for any club within a European Union nation at 16 years old. Due to Brexit, he could only play for English-based clubs at 18. Therefore, Man City will have convinced Sullivan and his representatives that their compensation and plan for his development will make up for his inability to play for his parent club’s senior side for an additional two years. Initially, Kessler and Bogert reported that the plan will be for Man City to loan Sullivan to City Football Group club Lommel SK in Belgium once he reaches 16 years old. However, it seems that has been scrapped for Sullivan to stay in the U.S. to continue his development until he is of age to make the switch to England. While it always seemed likely that Cavan Sullivan would eventually move to Europe, the Philadelphia Union seemed destined to see the young American wonderkid depart earlier than anticipated. Initial reporting by Tom Bogert stated that the Union made a massive offer to Sullivan which would have been the “best homegrown offer ever extended” in Major League Soccer. However, that offer initially fell short of expectations, and Sullivan seemed set to make the switch imminently, with a loan to City Football Group subsidiary club SK Lommel in Belgium until eligible to play in England. Then, Sullivan whipped an about-face, and the latest reports indicate that he will stay and develop with the MLS club for the foreseeable future, likely until his 18th birthday when he can then move to Man City. According to updated reporting by Bogert in late March 2024, Sullivan has agreed to a deal with both the Union and Manchester City to continue developing with the MLS club, thanks in part to the richest homegrown contract in league history. Once it is signed, Sullivan would be eligible to play for the Union first-team, having only just made his first appearance for the club’s reserve side days prior, registering a debut assist off the bench. Bogert’s report claims that per the agreement, Sullivan will transfer to Man City once he turns 18. The clubs reportedly agreed to a transfer package that includes a heavy list of add-ons plus a sell-on percentage of unconfirmed size retained by the Union. The murkiest part of the reported deal is a vague clause buried in Bogert’s reporting that states, “The Union agreed with City that it would send Sullivan to a City Football Group side elsewhere in Europe if his development surpasses MLS before his 18th birthday, sources say.” The notion of Sullivan’s development “surpassing MLS” would be massively open to interpretation, and could lead to a potential showdown between clubs if a disagreement on his developmental progress arises. While prior numbers on homegrown deals aren’t known, Jonathan Tannenwald of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports (notably, before it was revealed that Sullivan would stay with the Union) that it would exceed the deal widely believed to be the largest in homegrown history, that of the New York Red Bulls who signed then-15-year-old Julian Hall last year. MLS salary figures state Hall earned $167,685 in the first year of his deal. We will eventually find out what Sullivan’s current salary figure is once updated MLS earnings are released for 2024, but that number would not give future value of remaining years in the deal, only present value. Sullivan scored his first professional goal on July 6, 2024, hitting for Philadelphia Union’s reserve team which plays in MLS NEXT Pro. It was an absolutely brilliant goal, cooking a defender on the flank with a beautiful turn before gliding past two more on his way into the penalty area for the sliding finish. Cavan Sullivan scores his way into the history books! 🤩The 14-year-old nets his first professional goal and doubles @PhilaUnionII’s lead. pic.twitter.com/Op63SJukEl Cavan Sullivan has been playing for the United States at youth level but there’s no guarantee that he’ll play for the USMNT when he eventually becomes an option for the U.S. national team. The youngster’s German passport through his mother’s ancestry means there could come a time when he will have to choose between the U.S. or Germany. While a report from Philipp Klesser of German publication Tz says that Sullivan “feels fully American” and that it “will be very hard for Germany to change his mind,” it also notes that the German national team has scouted Sullivan a few times, indicating that he’s on their radar. The only other notable time an American-born player chose instead to play for a major European nation was back in 2008 when Guiseppe Rossi infamously made his debut for the Italian national team. Rossi, however, spent his entire youth career playing for the in the Italian age-group categories, which likely pushed him in that direction. It would be unprecedented if Sullivan spent his first 14 years living in the United States while playing for the U.S. youth system, but ultimately decided to represent another major European nation at the senior level. Smart UGA land 611 exbasketball recruit as OT

The SEC Now crew explain why the Bulldogs schedule justifies respect for the difficulty and questions if they will come out of their season on top. (1:50) Georgia made an intriguing late addition to its 2024 signing class Monday with a commitment from former elite basketball recruit Jahzare Jackson, a 6-foot-11 offensive tackle who now stands among the tallest players in college football.Best porn XXX. Jackson, who spent the past three years playing basketball with the Atlanta-based Overtime Elite program, announced his commitment to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs on Monday, opting for Georgia over Florida, Florida State, Mississippi State and Arkansas at the end of a rapid-fire recruitment. Jackson, 20, will count toward the Bulldogs’ class of 2024 and he is already on campus with plans to enroll next month. Entrenched in the NBA draft process just months ago, Jackson heads for Athens as one of college football’s physical anomalies, preparing to join a national championship-caliber program with a coaching staff he says has laid out a clear path toward future playing time. “This year, the plan is for me to come in there and buy into their scheme and learn their scheme and also just develop and get better fundamentally,” Jackson told ESPN. “They want me to come in my first year and be able to play maybe 20-30 snaps for the season. After that, they think I have the potential to come in my second year and be a starter.” Jackson said he arrived at Georgia measuring 6-11, 340 pounds, instantly asserting himself as one of tallest players in recent college football. According to ESPN Stats & Information research, Jackson will be the fourth Division I football player listed at 6-11 since 2017 and the second among active players, joining Jacksonville State offensive lineman Tom Hadary. According to Pro Football Reference data, the NFL scouting combine has hosted only two players over 6-foot-9 since 2000 — former Georgia offensive lineman Dennis Roland and current Detroit Lions offensive tackle Dan Skipper. Football was Jackson’s first sport growing up in San Diego, and he held multiple Division I football offers by the end of middle school. But as Jackson sprouted in height, his athletic path drifted from the football field toward a future on the basketball court. As recently as May, Jackson’s sights remained on a career in basketball. A onetime AAU teammate of Bronny James, Jackson spent the first two years of high school at Florida’s IMG Academy before moving to Overtime Elite. He won a championship in each of his three seasons and averaged 12.1 points and 7.5 rebounds in his final season with the program, where his contemporaries included 2024 NBA lottery picks Alex Sarr and Rob Dillingham as well as Tyler Smith, the No. 33 overall pick. When Jackson entered the NBA draft this spring, talent evaluators projected him as a possible late second-round selection likely to go undrafted. While Jackson mulled other opportunities in the G League and overseas, football — a sport he hadn’t played competitively since middle school — returned to focus, paving the way for his whirlwind June recruitment. “It was just making the right decision at the end of the day and evaluating all opportunities that I had on the table,” Jackson said. “I had to figure out what I was going to do, where I was going to start from, where I was going to begin in making this transition. Then I just got to work.” Jackson’s recruitment drew interest from across the Power 4. He took June visits to Florida, Florida State and Mississippi State before closing out with Georgia, where he sensed a fit among his future teammates, found a connection with the coaching staff and discovered an environment reminiscent of the one he knew at Overtime Elite. “It just felt familiar coming from a pro atmosphere,” Jackson said. “I felt like it was a place I could see myself being a part of and a place I could contribute. Coach Smart doesn’t sugarcoat anything for them. That got me.” This fall will be viewed as a development window for Jackson, one of six offensive lineman in the program’s class of 2024. In Year 2, he plans to compete for starting snaps on the Bulldogs’ offensive line with at least one eye on NFL draft eligibility at the end of the 2025 season. In the meantime, Jackson arrives as Georgia among the sport’s most fascinating recruiting stories and as one of its most intriguing physical prospects. “I’m embracing being able to come back to the sport that started it all for me in my athletic career,” Jackson said. “It’s been a great experience and I’m nothing but grateful.”
