Call one of our advisors to discuss the project and get some useful help on where to start. Getting it right first time will save you money and more importantly head aches and delays. No obligation, just useful information
We are often asked for more information about
DVD barcoding, BBFC and MCPS Licences.

The
most important part of your product but often overlooked or
left to the last minute is the artwork. Yet this is the first
impression you make to the recipient and as they say first impressions
count.
To make things easy we have available for download our most
popular templates. We recommend these are opened in your design
package for you to lay your design over the template to ensure
you have all the critical areas of your design to size and sufficient
bleed on the edges. If you have problems contactl us for advice
or assistance we are here to help make sure your project goes
to plan
Discus Group offer four types of printing
on the surface of the DVD disc.
Digital disc printing
- inkjet print on special discs coated with an ink receptive
print surface. The cheapest most cost effective high quality
disc print possible for short runs with no minimum quantity.
Gives vibrant photographic quality print and leaves a matt finish
to the disc. Note as the ink is water soluble it may spoil if
subjected to wet conditions. Discs can be lacquered to give
some resistance to moisture but this is not a perfect solution.
Thermal Litho disc printing - Designed for Retail
grade photo quality print for short print runs of discs with
no minimum quantity. On a par with Offset Litho printing see
below, but more expensive than digital print, but used for products
headed for retail or where corporate brand is important.
Silk Screen disc printing - Requiring a day longer
on lead times than digital or thermal printing this is the most
common method of print onto discs for retail. The process involves
separating out the 4 colour channels of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow
and Black or spot colours onto films. These films are exposed
onto silk frames which are then used for printing the discs.
Generally available at 140 LPI (lines per inch). Silk screen
is best for solid colours, graphics and text.
Offset
Litho disc printing - by far the best print obtained is
Litho print for photographs or fine details on discs. Output
is 195 LPI (Lines per Inch). Suitable for larger print runs
and is unrivalled on quality
DVD label printing - We do not recommend the use of sticky
labels for applying designs to discs as they have been known
to peel off the disc when left in a machine which gets hot.
This leaves the distributer with a liability to repair the recipients
machine
